Running Analysis
Running is a popular sport for people of all ages and fitness levels. It is a relatively inexpensive sport with easy access. No health club required – just lace up your shoes, open your front door and take off running. Unfortunately, many people are plagued with running injuries which can affect your feet and ankles all the way up the chain to your hips and back. Some of these injuries include ITB syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints. Many injuries occur due to improper footwear, muscle weakness and imbalance and/or faulty biomechanics with running technique. It is important to understand and maintain proper form with running to diminish the risk of injury. Physical Therapists are experts in observing, diagnosing and treating running injuries. They can get you back to running, enhance your performance and prevent further injury.
At Blue Sky Physical Therapy, we can perform an individualized assessment of your running technique and make corrections to keep you running injury free. The assessment will include a video of you running on a treadmill, review, and discussion of the biomechanical faults observed and a treatment plan to address and correct your running technique. We will also perform a postural evaluation, range of motion and strength testing of your lower extremities and assessment of your core muscle activation and endurance.
Treatment at Blue Sky Physical Therapy will include:
- Strength and flexibility exercise program to address your specific deficits
- Core strengthening and endurance
- Manual therapy and/or dry needling
- Re-assessment of your running technique
We can also help you design a program to progress your running in a safe manner to reduce your risk of injury, to keep you running pain free and to help you meet your specific goals. Please contact Blue Sky Physical Therapy in Denver, CO for more information or to schedule a consult.
